Vision

The Global Grains and Pulses Council envisions a future where countries stand at the forefront of the global grains and pulses market. Our vision is rooted in productivity, sustainability, stewardship and innovation, and seamless trade to ensure global food and nutrition security.

Mission

The Global Grains and Pulses Council champions the growth and competitiveness of grains and pulses sector. Through strategic advocacy, innovation, and collaboration, GGPC focuses on advocating for supportive policies, promoting sustainable practices, facilitating market access, supporting innovation and technology adoption, and building capacity and stakeholder engagement. It aims at addressing policy, trade, technology and regulatory matters and fosters an ecosystem for innovations and international trade.

GGPC Objectives

To enhance global trade competitiveness, launch trade facilitation programs, organize global summits and trade fairs, and establish bilateral trade agreements to expand the global presence of grains and pulses.

To promote agricultural efficiency and productivity, implement technology adoption schemes, support precision agriculture practices, and facilitate access to high-quality seeds and inputs.

To facilitate innovation and research, partner with academic institutions and research organizations to drive innovation in the grains and pulses sector, focusing on improving yields, reducing post-harvest losses, and enhancing nutritional quality.

To focus on enhancing global market reach, developing strategic market initiatives, policy and trade facilitation, and closely work with the Governments to address issues that concerns production, trade, and market development.

To engage with international bodies, country specific chambers, embassies, trade organizations, corporate, farmers and farmer co-operatives, federal and state governments, and other stakeholders, aimed at cultivating a proficient, well-informed, and interconnected community that can propel the sector towards progress.

To build stakeholder capacity, conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars to upgrade the skills of farmers, traders, and other stakeholders in the global grains and pulses value chain.

GGPC Agenda

Enhancing Market Access and Stability

The GGPC is set to play a crucial role in improving market access and reducing price volatility through strategic marketing, trade facilitation, and international partnerships. By creating more predictable and stable markets, the council can help ensure better stability for all ecosystem players.

Infrastructure Development:

One of the council’s strategic objectives is to address infrastructural deficiencies by advocating for investment in storage and logistics facilities. This would help reduce post- harvest losses and improve the overall supply chain efficiency in the grains and pulses sector.

Technological Advancement and Innovation:

The GGPC aims to bridge technological gaps by promoting the adoption of advanced technologies and innovative farming practices. This includes supporting research and development initiatives and facilitating access to modern tools and techniques, thereby enhancing productivity and product quality.

Policy Advocacy and Regulatory Reforms:

Advocacy for supportive policies is a cornerstone of the GGPC’s mission. The council plans to work with the global governments for policy reforms that simplify regulations and create a more conducive environment for the growth and expansion of the grains and pulses sector globally.

Sustainable Agricultural Practices:

Promoting sustainability is central to the GGPC’s vision. The council intends to encourage sustainable agricultural methods that minimize environmental impact, enhance soil health, and ensure the long-term viability of the sector, addressing concerns related to climate change, water use, and land management.

Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing:

The GGPC is committed to empowering stakeholders through education, training, and networking opportunities. By enhancing the skills and knowledge of those involved in the grains and pulses value chain, the council aims to elevate industry standards and drive collective advancement.

Conflict Mitigation and Dispute Resolution:

The GGPC has collaborated with the International Agro Arbitration Centre (IAAC), the world’s pioneering agro-focused dispute settlement entity, to transform dispute resolution in the agriculture and food sectors globally. This partnership aims to enable the swift and economical resolution of trade conflicts.

GGPC Activities

GGPC aims to transform its objectives into actionable work areas, leveraging the support of its Partners, Board, and corporate members. The organization will embark on the following activities:

Organize technical seminars, conferences, summits, conclaves, trade events and business dialogues across the globe to promote the grains and pulses Industry.

To collaborate and build partnerships with organizations globally with a view to promote exports and investments in the sector.

Policy advocacy by engaging with Government, industry, academia, research institutions and services agencies to further the interest of industry and enabling the favourable policy environment to promote trade.

Knowledge dissemination and media engagement through news updates, outlook reports and policy and position papers to provide policy, technical and trade related information.

Organize trade delegations from key potential countries across the globe to facilitate business opportunities and the acquisition of knowledge of the emerging trends and advanced technologies in the grains and pulses sector.

Constitution of the National Council

Steering Committee -

The Steering Committee is the apex body of the Global Grains and Pulses Council, responsible for guiding the council’s strategic direction, overseeing operations, and ensuring financial accountability. The composition is as follows:

  • Chairman: Provides leadership and strategic direction, represents the council in high-level engagements, and ensures alignment with the council’s vision and mission.
  • Convener: Acts as the operational head, overseeing the implementation of council activities, coordinating among committee members, and ensuring effective execution of strategies.
  • Additional Members: To bring specialized expertise in areas such as trade and policy, sustainable agriculture, trade and market development, contributing to the strategic decision-making process.

Executive Committee: Comprising the Chairman, Convener, and additional members, the Executive Committee represents a broad spectrum of the grains and pulses sector.

General Body: Comprising of all the Patron, Corporate, Ordinary, Nominated, and Institutional members will ensure that the leadership of GGPC is working continuously to fulfil aspirations of the council and the agriculture sector.

GGPC Membership

Patron Membership

INR 15 lac each (Limited to 5 patron members only)
  • Will be having one guaranteed member seat to the executive committee.
  • Patron member logo will be highlighted on the home page of GGPC website and brochure.
  • Patron member company’s logos will be prominently displayed on panels of all meetings.
  • Patron member nominee will be invited to all meetings with dignitaries.
  • Patron members will be invited to all international delegations and meetings – inbound/outbound.
  • Opportunities to represent GGPC as official representative for trade show/conferences.
  • Free access to all the events organized by ICFA.
  • Invitation for general body meeting to be held annually.
  • Invitation to join for all meetings to discuss recommendation for various policies and other initiatives to be taken up by GGPC.
  • At least one meeting will be held in each quarter to discuss policy and trade issues and agenda.
  • One vote for selection of office bearer after first term of 5 years.
  • Patron members will be entitled to 25% off on all trade expos, and events participations.
  • Speaker slot for all GGPC meetings and events and select ICFA events.

Corporate Membership

INR 5 lac each
  • Corporate member logo will be displayed on events and meetings held by GGPC.
  • Free access to all the events organized by ICFA.
  • Corporate member nominee will be invited to the international delegations.
  • Invitation for general body meeting to be held annually.
  • Invitation to join all meetings to discuss recommendation for various policies and other initiatives to be taken up by GGPC.
  • Publication of all members in directory.
  • One vote for selection of office bearer after first term of 5 years.
  • Corporate members will be entitled to 10% off on all trade expos, and events participations.

Ordinary Membership

INR 1 lac each
  • Invitation for general body meeting to be held annually.
  • Invitation to join all meetings to discuss recommendation for various policies and other initiatives to be taken up by GGPC.
  • At least one meeting will be held in each quarter as well as multiple webinars.
  • Publication of all members in directory.
  • One vote for selection of office bearer after first term of 5 years.
  • Two members to be nominated on the EC by the SC.

Annual Membership Fees (Waived for 1st Year):

  • Patron Members: INR 3 lac
  • Corporate Members: INR 1 lac
  • Ordinary Members: INR 20,000

About ICFA

The Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture is the apex body in India, working on business, policy, and development agendas and serving as a global platform for trade facilitation, partnerships, technology, and agribusiness services. A proactive approach helps ICFA discern critical challenges emerging in Indian agriculture and create opportunities for development, value addition, and international trade to accelerate growth in the food and agriculture sectors globally. ICFA, with more than 25 industry Working Groups and sector-specific Business Councils, represents the interests of key stakeholders at the national level and, through its international platforms and partnerships, facilitates India’s global engagement in the food and agriculture sectors.

For enhanced sustainability, food safety, and quality standards, ICFA has taken up the Agriculture Stewardship Program by launching the Healthy Food Initiative program and the Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) project. In a short period of more than 9 years, the Chamber has signed MoUs with the ICAR, APEDA, NRDC, RAKEZ Group, ASYAD Group, University of California, University of Maryland, Michigan State University, Iowa State University, Western Australia University, German Agribusiness Alliance, Borlaug Institute for South Asia, African Asian Rural Development Organization, NASSCOM, Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA), FAMATO, CCI Pau Béarn, IFPRI, etc. Through international partnerships, ICFA envisions mobilizing technologies and investments that will catalyze agribusiness and agri-startups. The more than 35-member ICFA Board has distinguished luminaries, with the Pioneer of India’s Green Revolution, Prof. MS Swaminathan, as its Patron.
